Tietääkö joku, että onko monellakin sisämaa valtiolla omia merialuksia?

the Belarusian fleet expects to man two ships — a 30 thousand tonne sea going vessel and a 6 thousand tonne smaller ship that can navigate both sea and river ways.

Kuulostaako termi "valko-venäjän kauppa-merilaivasto" jotekin erikoiselle?

Mikä tämmöiselle aluksille voi tulla kotisatamaksi?

Sisämaita joilla on merialuksia:  BOLIVIA,MONGOLIA,SVEITSI,ITÄVALTA,UNKARI,MONTENEGRO,PARAGUAY...

Moi,

Kauppalaivasto hanke etenee pikkuhiljaa:

Belarus harbors naval ambitions

Landlocked Belarus' Transport and Communication Ministry has announced that it wants to develop a merchant navy, to convey the 20 million tons of cargo it currently transports over water. Belarusian First Deputy Transport and Communication Minister Nikolai Verkhovets announced the plans at a press conference on June 30, BelTA news agency reports.

He noted that Belarus currently depends upon foreign shippers to transport goods by sea, "We give these opportunities to the companies that have fleets while it would be more profitable to use a mercantile navy of our own," he said.

There are different ways Belarus can set up its merchant navy. Possibilities are using Russian and Lithuanian partners, and Minsk has already entered into negotiations with Russia's Sovcomflot. So far without success, "Sovcomflot demands that Belarusian cargo owners should use only the services of this company. But we cannot accept it because we will be dependent on a single transporter that will dictate its rules," Verkhovets said. However, "The Lithuanian colleagues are interested in delivering our cargoes at good prices. We are interested in setting up a Belarusian company that will work in Belarus," he added. Providers from non former soviet states are also being considered.

The world financial crisis presents its problems for Belarus, but it also means that this could be the time to buy, "Opportunities for buying maritime vessels at lower prices have emerged," said Belarusian Head of the Sea and River Transport Office of the Transport and Communication Ministry, Bronislav Govorovsky. "We are analyzing the situation. Efforts are being put into attracting investors with vessels to Belarus. They could be used in the republic and could transport Belarusian cargoes."

Valko-Venäjän Latvia yhteistyö ajatukset ovat edenneet:

Belarus is interested in cooperation with Riga Port and Latvijas dzelzcels

Riga Deputy Mayor Ainars Slesers' (Latvia's First Party/Latvia's Way) press secretary Girts Dripe told LETA that the main goal of the visit was to draw more investments and freights to the Riga Port as well as to enhance the overall economic cooperation between Riga and Minsk.

At meetings with Minsk Executive Committee's acting chairman Nikolai Ladutko, his deputy Alexander Borisenko and the heads of several Minsk enterprises, Slesers offered the Belarusian side to make use of the Riga Port for exporting Belarusian goods to other countries as well as for imports.

Since Belarus does not have its own seaports, options for the development of a Belarusian cargo terminal at the Freeport of Riga were discussed as well as the establishment of joint enterprises, as it would help Belarus export its products to the European Union and Latvia export its products to the C.I.S. countries.

Latvia already cooperates very closely with the West, whereas the relations with eastern neighbor counties remain underdeveloped. Cooperation with Belarus is very important as it will help Latvia attract new investments and open up new markets for Latvia in the C.I.S. countries, Slesers believes.

Later on, during a meeting with the Belarusian Minister of Transport and Communications Ivan Shcherbo, an agreement was reached on increasing the frequency of direct flights between Riga and Minsk.

As reported, on Friday Slesers concludes a three-day visit to Minsk. During the visit, Slesers was accompanied by the Riga City Council's Transport Affairs Committee Chairman Nikolajs Zaharovs (Harmony Center) and Inga Pelsa, head of Slesers' bureau.
