PURRSEAVERANCE (U.S.A.)

London, Oct 29 -- A press report, dated yesterday, states: Ferry Purrseaverance (243 gt, built 2001), part of a planned ferry service to Key West, ploughed into rocks along the shore between Miami and South Beach
after veering out of control today. No one was injured. The Coast Guard said the vessel, owned by Miami-based Fast Cats Ferry Service, was conducting sea trials with an 11-member crew when it veered sharply off
course and into the rocks lining MacArthur Causeway. The vessel partially climbed up onto the shore, with one of the twin hulls coming to rest against the side of the concrete barrier that borders eastbound traffic
lanes across Government Cut from the Port of Miami.

London, Oct 29 -- A press report, dated today, states: Miami-to-Key West ferry Purrseaverance, shooting a promotional video before its maiden voyage, ran aground for the second time recently. At 1500 hrs the steering on the high-speed PurrSeaverance failed near the port of Miami-Dade and it hit the rocks on the south side of the MacArthur Causeway halfway between
Miami and South Beach. None of the 11 people on board was injured. Although the ferry, run by Fast Cats Ferry Service, has yet to officially start its three-to-four hour rides between Miami and Key West, it had already been
the subject of bad news. Last week, the company failed its Coast Guard certification because of a change to a fan system that lifts the boat so it can plane on top of the water at 50 knots. The same 149-passenger, $7.5
million ship had earlier run aground at low tide in the New River in Fort Lauderdale, leaving the propellers damaged. Operations manager Mark Rosandich said damage to the hull yesterday was minimal, and the cost of the accident, including tow fees, should not exceed $40,000. The damage should take no more than a few weeks to fix, he said.

Muistuu mieleen tapaus, kun uteliaisuuttani menin lukemaan mitä osittain jalkakäytävälle pysäköidyn auton ikkunassa olleessa lapussa luki: "Onnittelut kun et osaa pysäköidä!". Saman voisi laittaa ko. paatin sillan ikkunaan... :D

Ellen aivan väärin muista, niin joskus x vuotta sitten joku risteilijä törmäsi Helsinkiin tuleessaan Hernesaaren laiturin. Ihan noin korkealle se ei kuitenkaan hypännyt.

No pientähän tuo on kun vertaa Englannin kanaalissa 16.10.1987 raivonneeseen poikkeuksellisen kovaan myrskyyn, joka heitti Sealinkin Hengist(nyk. Panagia Ekatondapiliani) autolautan maihin Folkestonessa. :)
